NSS 2

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. It is an extension dimension to the higher education system to orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institutions.

NSS MOTTO: “NOT ME BUT YOU”

Established in the year: 1969

OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand the community in which the volunteers work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the Community to involve them in problem solving.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual & community problems.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Practise national integration and social harmony.

College NSS Profile:

College has five units of NSS. Three for Girls and Two for Boys.

Each unit enrolls 100 volunteers.

Any bonafide student can be NSS volunteer.

Major activities:

  • National Integration Camp
  • Blood Donation Camp
  • Immunisation
  • Adventure Programmes
  • Disaster Management etc.

 

 

NSS Advisory Committee has representation of some NSS volunteers. The regular and special camps are managed by different groups of student volunteers.
